As we reach the end of yet another year, it’s the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate the achievements, partnerships, and progress that have shaped 2025. For Jarvis Nuclear, it has been a year marked by expanding capability, strengthening professional connections, and supporting clients across the South West with high-quality radiological protection services.
And we’d love to share some of the good times we’ve had over the past twelve months – so don’t go anywhere!
Strengthening Our Professional Impact
One of the standout moments of the year was our involvement in the South West Conference of the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP), where we shared insights and expertise with fellow professionals. Neil MacPhail’s presentation, ‘Consultancy in the South West – warning: may contain radon!’, was particularly well received and sparked valuable discussions on local challenges and best practices.
We were also proud to become an Affiliated Organisation of the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP). This affiliation formally recognises our commitment to radiological protection and reflects our ongoing dedication to working closely with the UK’s leading professional body in this field.
In addition, Jarvis Nuclear was welcomed as a member of The Radon Council. Our RPAs completed the Radon Council’s training course on Radon Detection and Treatment, further strengthening the technical depth of our team.
Building Knowledge & Leadership in Radon Management
Radon has continued to make the news in the South West throughout the year, with high levels being reported in the media for a range of organisations across the region.
With these developments in mind, Paul Jarvis attended the 22nd National Radon Forum, where discussions around workplace radon regulation offered valuable insights into the challenges organisations of all types continue to face. The forum also fostered new connections with companies seeking Radiation Protection Adviser support in Cornwall, Devon, and further afield in the South West of England – relationships we look forward to developing further in 2026.
This year, we expanded our capabilities by introducing passive long-term and short-term radon detectors, now available for purchase nationwide directly through our website. This exciting development allows us to provide a more accessible and streamlined service for those looking to evaluate and manage radon levels.
Moreover, we have extended our radiation monitoring capability with new detection equipment to better support our growing work with veterinary and industrial clients.
Expanding Training & Support Services
As it has in previous years, training has remained a cornerstone of our mission over the course of 2025. We delivered a number of Radon Awareness Training courses, all of which received excellent feedback. These modules have helped organisations better understand their responsibilities and take practical steps to protect staff and building users.
Recognising the specific needs of workplaces where radon is the only radiological concern, we developed a dedicated Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) training course tailored exclusively to radon-related issues.
While we prioritise face-to-face delivery to maximise interaction and adapt content to each client’s needs, we now offer online courses via Microsoft Teams for clients who prefer a flexible or cost-effective training option.
Supporting Local Communities & Growing Together
2025 has also brought important team highlights. We were delighted to join the Children’s Hospice South West Business Club, participating in networking events and visiting Little Harbour to gain a deeper understanding of the extraordinary care the charity provides. Being able to support and engage with such a meaningful cause has been an honour and a privilege.
We’re also pleased to let you know that our work with veterinary clients has also continued to flourish. We’ve supported multiple veterinary practices, providing expert guidance from the design stage right through to the commissioning of their X-ray facilities. It has been inspiring to see these practices grow from initial plans to welcoming their first clients.
Additionally, Jarvis Nuclear sponsored the Quiz at Jeremiah’s Journey 80’s Extravaganza Ball, helping to raise funds to provide bereavement support for children and young people. We also sponsored a rescued seal pup at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. The seal pup was released back into the natural environment of the Cornwall coast in March after spending three months in rehabilitation at the sanctuary.
But that’s not all:
Alongside our continued participation in the Children’s Hospice Business Club, we’re once again making seasonal donations to several local charities to help spread the yuletide cheer. This holiday season, we’re proud to support Devon Air Ambulance, Dartmoor Search and Rescue, Provide Devon, and Hugs (Children’s Cancer Charity).

As we close out 2025 and get ready to celebrate our tenth year of operation in April 2026, we’re immensely proud of how far we’ve come – expanding our capabilities, strengthening our professional presence, deepening community connections, and continuing to deliver high-quality radiological protection support.
But here’s the big news we’re really excited about:
We’re expanding the areas we cover!
As some of you might be aware, we already support a number of clients beyond Cornwall and Devon. Building on that, in 2026, we’re aiming to broaden our reach even further, offering our professional radon services to homeowners and schools & business, as well as radiological protection, nuclear safety advice & consultation across Somerset and Dorset.
We also intend to start sharing our professional knowledge on our website, so look out for more blogs.
