What Is Radon?
Radon is an invisible, odourless, radioactive gas that arises naturally from the decay of Uranium present in soils and rocks. Although it cannot be tasted, it can sometimes be found in water supplies. Radon exists in varying concentrations within both residential and commercial buildings in Exeter, and according to the World Health Organisation, it is the second leading cause of lung cancer.
Every structure contains some level of Radon; however, higher concentrations often occur when ventilation is limited, such as with closed windows and heating systems in operation.
